Welcome to The Melanoma Support and Education Foundation Website!

One person dies each hour from Melanoma. More than 54,000 people will be diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma in the United States this year, and nearly 8,000 will die from this disease. The percentage of people who develop melanoma has more than doubled in the past 30 years. Melanoma is the most common cancer in women ages 25-29 and second only to breast cancer in women 30-34.

Although more common in people who have fair skin, freckles and red or blonde hair, Anyone can get it! As you will find on this site, even people born with dark skin are not immune. You may lessen your chances by being sun smart and taking precautions.
